An ARES Update from Jeffrey / AJ6VF

Here’s an ARES update from Jeffrey / AJ6VF —

Greetings and Happy Halloween!

Attached is my report for October. It’s been a busy month and I’m very happy with the results for HMB ARES.

Coastside Great ShakeOut involved ARES running two nets in support of Coastside CERT branches 1 & 2. We had a ham in each neighborhood communicating tactical traffic to/from the Neighborhood Commanders and the Incident Commander in the DOC at Coastside Fire Station 40. Additionally, we interfaced with a DART (Disaster Air Response Team) ham at the Half Moon Bay Airport providing injects about critical infrastructure issues that were relayed to the IC and then out to the NBH Commanders. We cross-trained some new people in the two Net Control positions, as well as the Network Manager position. They all did an outstanding job.

HMB Pumpkin Run was also a success. We had a lean team, this year, as well as having to find an alternate location for out Net Control station. That said, we staffed each of the event stations and provided communications support for the race coordinator. This was the first time that the race coordinator had worked with hams and she provide this feedback. “Thank you for the professionalism and the peace of mind that you provided on race day. I was extremely calm during the event and that is in large part due to you.”

A lot of planning and good work done by our group, this month. I’m proud to be a part of this team.
