New Digipeater for Santa Cruz Mountain Communities

The SC4ARC/ARES organization has installed a new digipeater on Butano Ridge above Canyon Road near Pescadero. This digipeater serves the communities of La Honda,Pescadero, Butano Park, Loma Mar, Dearborn Park, Whitehouse Canyon and the La Honda Volunteer Fire Brigade. This is essential for passing welfare traffic, shelter ops traffic, large files, etc., via email over amateur radio.
In addition to the new digipeater, there is now a Winlink station in Half Moon Bay. Kings Mountain has changed frequency on their digipeater to coordinate with Half Moon Bay’s digipeater and SC4ARC’s Winlink gateway. Between these digipeaters and Winlink gateways, this gives Bay Area Red Cross access to Winlink and Coastside Emergency Operations Center in Half Moon Bay.
